It is inspiring to work with technology that contributes to a significant reduction of emissions from the petroleum industry, and to participate in solving the challenges of emissions reductions, energy supply and security in a broader perspective.
I am a chief scientist at NORCE Energy where I work in the Energy Modeling and Automation group. I am also an Associate Professor at the University of Stavanger, where I work at the Faculty of Science and Technology.
My expertise is in mathematical modeling, in particular systems for monitoring and control of complex dynamic systems. As an associate professor, I am responsible for teaching and mentoring Master's and Ph.D. students at the Department of Energy and Petroleum Technology.
I hold a PhD in energy and petroleum technology, a master’s in applied mathematics, and a bachelor's degree in marine engineering and business administration. I am educated at the University College of Bergen (BSc), University of Bergen (MSc), University of Stavanger, and University of Houston (PhD).
I have long and broad experience both as a researcher, lecturer, and project manager and as an administrative officer for a research group. Since 2015, I have led the development and availability of OpenLab, an infrastructure for education, research, and innovation. OpenLab is designed to accelerate the uptake of new technology and to renew the education of future engineers and researchers in the energy field. OpenLab is on the Norwegian roadmap for research infrastructure and has a development cost of NOK 48 million. Since 2011, I have led the program "Safe and cost-efficient Drilling" under DrillWell, a center for research-based innovation led by NORCE. I have also had the pleasure of participating in the development of commercial successes from the idea stage to widely implemented technology.
