Personalization of Established, Institutionalized Parties in Democracies
This book project analyzes personalization of leadership-processes in established parties in democracies. The personalization of an established, institutionalized party is presumably far from simple (and hence why it hasn’t happened very often), and involves de-routinization of decision-making, a transfer of loyalties from the organization to the leader of the moment, and a growing overlap between the party’s organizational identity and the leader’s personal identity and political fortune.
