Trond Mannseth holds a PhD degree (1986) in applied mathematics from the University of Bergen, Norway. Since 1/10 2018, he is a chief scientist at NORCE Energy.
From 2004 to 30/9 2018 he was a chief scientist at the Centre for Integrated Petroleum Research, Uni Research CIPR, in Bergen. From 1996 to 2004 he was a senior researcher and a chief scientist at the International Research Institute of Stavanger, Norway. From 1985 to 1996 he was a researcher and a senior researcher at Norsk Hydro Research Center in Bergen. From 2003 to 2015 he was also an adjunct professor in applied mathematics at the University of Bergen.
From 1985 to 1996 his main research interest was within method development for simulation of multiphase fluid flows in porous media with realistic geological complexity.
Since 1996 his research interests have mainly been within method development for geoscience-related inverse problems such as dynamic subsurface characterization and monitoring of fluid flows in the subsurface. In recent years, the focus has been on methods that facilitate uncertainty quantification, such as ensemble-based methods, and on simultaneous utilization of different data types.
