I am a senior researcher in applied mathematics with interests including forward and inverse modeling, data-driven methods, and decision theory. The main focuses of my research are the real-time applications of these methods and integrated workflows in the field of drilling and geosteering.
I hold MSc and PhD degrees in applied mathematics from the University of Bergen. I have been working as a researcher at IRIS and later NORCE since 2013.
In 2018 I took responsibility for leading the project “Geosteering for IOR” where the team is developing advanced quantitative and statistical methods and applying them for real-time decision making. The activity in the geosteering consortium formed around the project has involved 13 companies and research organizations by the end of 2019.
To communicate the complex numerical methods to a wider audience, I prefer simple interactive prototypes. I have been leading the development of interactive demonstrations in the Drilling Data Hub pre-project in 2017, and a geosteering competition platform in 2019 (https://geosteering.no/game).
