I am a PhD fellow within the ARCHIE project and study sedimentary ancient DNA (sedaDNA) and its use as paleoceanographic proxy in the Late Quaternary Southern Ocean. My research connects geosciences (I am working with marine sediments as archive for the past environment) and biosciences (I use sedaDNA as a tool to identify past-living organisms).
My background is in Marine Geosciences and I hold a MSc in this field from the University of Bremen, Germany. I have experience in micropaleontology, paleoenvironment and molecular biology. In the past, I worked on the diversity of plankton communities in oceans and sediments and investigated the remains of coccolithophore communities in surface sediments in the Drake Passage, Southern Ocean (SO).
